Rep. Sonya Harper is fighting to protect the environmental health of her community and of Chicago so that her constituents can live healthy lives free of toxins and other harms caused by environmental harms. Studies have repeatedly shown that Black and brown citizens are disproportionately exposed to harmful pollutants and toxins compared to their white counterparts. Harper is fighting to change that and to help ensure all Illinoisans can live in healthy environments. In 2019, she received a 100% rating from the Illinois Environmental Council based on her voting record on legislation affecting the environment.
